Not only that. But Shoalin take great pride in the disicples. Disicple does NOT mean noobie. They are receiving some of the best tips & training in the game, thus will more than likely ( unless brand new ) be quite the formindable force

Diligence - Practice often & practice correctly. You are not a Shaolin yet, but like a young Gohan or Goku. The power is there, bring it out through hard training.
Bravery - Disciples are not afraid to face tough opponents, and do not let their egos keep them out of matches with stronger foes. Despite often losing -- the disiciple goes all out.
Resilience - Despite not being strong enough, does not get discouraged & give up.
